President Obama Captures Imagination of Non-Voters

I keep parroting in this forum how the youth vote was flat in the 2008 Presidential election as compared to the 2004 election.  However, we keep hearing in the media how Obama capture the hearts and minds of the voters.  The voters were inspired!  Excuse me, but Obama had 70 million votes to McCain's 60 million.  President Bush had 62 million votes to Senator Kerry's 60 million in 2004.  Obama did get 10% more of the 18-29 year old crowd, but the turnout wasn't significantly changed.  The fact is Obama is only great in the minds of the media.  Otherwise, he is just another President who won.  If you want historic, look at President Reagan's 49 state sweep.  That is an example of a Presidential candidate capturing the imagination of the people.
