President Obama cut off funding for the Washington, DC school voucher program.  A program that allowed poor students to attend a private school.  The kids loved it.  The kids thrived, yet the DFL cut funding.  A measly $14 million out of billions.  Obama had to back track and make some concessions to allow the kids to finish.  Remember House Speaker Pelosi D-CA in 2006?  Pelosi was surrounded by children during her first gavel hit?  You see, the DFL just loves children...unless they are learning.  The kids in the DC voucher program were learning in a school district that has at least a 50% dropout rate and pays $14,000 per student each year.  The voucher program?  I believe the private school was $8,000 per year.  Amazing what selfish teachers' unions can do huh?  I don't even think my undergrad or grad school was over $10,000 per year.  Oh yeah, you can't get help as a private institution either.  Especially if your school is religious.  Unless you are muslim.  The Dept of Education needs to be closed.  Each student needs a "price" on their back.  That is the funding that goes where they go.  If they go to public school, the public school gets the money.  If they go to private school, the private school gets the money.  We need to break the teachers' unions and implement school choice.
