The CA supreme court has upheld the will of CA voters to ban gay marriage.  The ban was approved last year mainly due to strong Hispanic and Black support.  Again, is the GOP listening?  The GOP Moderates would have you believe that the social issues are not important.  Yet we see time and time again that these issues do matter and are more than likely Conservative leaning.  CA is a VERY Liberal state and to see something like this actually pass is simply amazing.  This is also a great example of Federalism.  CA's residents have exercised their rights.  Per the concept of Federalism, if you dislike what your particular state is doing, you can LEAVE.  We saw in last year's Presidential election that AZ and NM in particular voted more Democrat due to the influx of CA residents.  I for one am very strongly considering leaving my current state due to the ridiculous tax levels.  Attention GOP...  Traditional marriage is NOT a lost cause!

Updated 05/27/2009:  You just knew this was coming.  My take is that it will fail again and keep the issue fresh in voters' minds.  Perhaps fresh enough to swing a few extra votes towards the GOP.

Updated 05/28/2009:  A Black woman has been dragged away by the Secret Service for wanting to give President Obama a letter asking him to uphold traditional marriage.  We have morons in the GOP that want to abandon this issue and here a minority that voted 95% for Obama opposes it.  The GOP is diseased.
