RINOs' Report of Conservatism's Death Greatly Exaggerated

I wrote here about the major shift overseas of the EU, Brittan, etc, to the right in recent elections.  Socialist countries getting more Conservative as America gets more Socialist.  Very ironic.  Various GOP RINOs such as former Secretary of State Colin Powell would have you believe that every Moderate and Liberal that exists in the GOP should be embraced no matter how badly they damage the party.  Senator Arlen "Two Timer" Spector (D/R/D-PA) is the classic example since he helped get the $787 billion "stimulus" bill passed.  Plus Spector was a thorn in the GOP side for years.  There are so many examples this year of Conservatism on the move.  The gay marriage issue being another.  Now we have polls showing what is already known at the grass roots level.  Conservatism never went away and is on the rise.  40% of Americans consider themselves Conservative.  35% Moderate.  The rest left-wing kook Liberals.  Now, a lot of those Moderates are likely just Liberals, or they have a mixed bag of views.  The classic being socially Liberal and fiscally Conservative.  I find this situation to be mutually exclusive though.  How can you be in favor of certain social programs yet fiscally aware?  Too many money sucking social programs are the main reason for bloated government.  Duh!  Regardless, the GOP has a strong base of support at 40% and only needs 30% of the Moderate vote to get over 50% of the votes.  I hardly see how this situation warrants attracting so many Moderates.  President Obama still has a favorable rating in the 60% range, but most of his policies are under 50% support.  The GOP could ensure all those Conservatives vote in the next election by staying right unlike Senator McCain (R-AZ) in the last Presidential election.  How many votes did McCain loose to his erratic Moderate RINO crap platform?  Oh, if only McCain had voted against TARP!  The DFL will be sitting ducks come 2010 and it will take a former President JImmy Carter like screwup to not gain more political ground.  Don't be complacent Conservatives!  There are still those in the GOP perfectly capable of fumbling the ball.
