A Lesson In "Moderate" Politics Provided By Senator Ben "The Weasel" Nelson
I last wrote about the Health Care bill debacle here. The bill squeaked by in the Senate via one fool known here as Senator Ben "The Weasel" Nelson (D-NE). Nelson was one of several Democrats who turned prostitute and received "goodies" for their states in exchange for "yes" votes. The bill has a long ways to go before it is a done deal. The corruption involved for passage will be the subject of lawsuits for years to come. Unfortunately for Nelson, he will not be around then. Nelson has fallen 30 points behind since selling out his state and the country for $100 million. Election 2012 looks like a pipe dream... If Nelson is still around then... What do you expect Nelson? Virtually NO ONE likes this bill in political terms. NO ONE. Nelson can attempt a "yes" vote defense, but it is too late. Not even a TV ad buy will save you now Weasel! More here. Now that we have established the despicable looser weasel nature of Nelson, let us get down to business... There has been talk and articles about the myth of "Moderate" Democrats given the Health Care bill passage with "Moderate" help. Dick Morris has a good read here. It is my assumption that these theories define "Moderate" as a Democrat who believes in fiscal discipline, is pro-life, etc... While this may well be generally true via the "Blue Dogs," I see a different kind of "Moderate" in Nelson. This kind of "Moderate" is also known as "Political Hack." Let me explain... Nelson was book ended by two factions prior to his "yes" vote. Constituents and Senator Harry Reid (D-NV). Nelson's constituents hate the bill and wanted a "no" vote. Reid obviously wanted a "yes" vote. Nelson had a choice... Risk loosing reelection in 2012, or make Reid's shit list and become an outcast via Senator Roland Burris (D-IL). Nelson didn't make ANY tough decision. Instead, Nelson agreed to vote "yes" for minor bill changes and $100 million for NE. Nelson punted and tried to have it both ways. Appease constituents and Reid. I see this as analogous to what Senator John McCain (R-AZ) does. The old "reach across the isle" bit. McCain sacrifice's his beliefs in the name of "Bipartisanship." Can appeasing constituents and Reid at the same time be a different form of bipartisanship? Perhaps... Nelson essentially implemented this McCain version of "Moderate," but from the left as opposed to the right. I know my argument here is a bit weak and smells more like "Hack" than "Moderate," but I think it fits. Perhaps a better term is "Compromise?" Whatever the case, Nelson was put into office to be the voice of NE voters. Nelson supposedly had positions on various issues to get elected. Nelson clearly has no core political beliefs, or he has been in Washington too long and feels the need to "fit in." If Nelson tries to switch parties I say let him rot on the vine. I doubt it will happen though. Just look at how Senator Arlen "Two Time" Spector (D/R/D-PA) has faired. Badly! In the end Nelson will probably vote "yes" unless he gets cover from another Democrat. Nelson will loose reelection in 2012 and "happily" become the assistant to the assistant to the assistant of a co-chair on some UFO investigation committee. I hope Nelson stays there FOREVER and never shows his face again. I need to quick go back before closing... I think the other scandalous angle here is how Senators in safe left-wing kook states pressure Red State Democrat Senators. In essence it is like giving Reid a 2nd, 3rd, etc, vote on the bill... We are so screwed...

I wrote here about Senate "Weasel" Ben Nelson (D-NE) and his political hack payoffs. I don't have much time to write, but it shouldn't take long to expose the latest Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) corruption of the legislative process. First a brief flashback to those "ethical" Democrat days in 2006... Make me puke Pelosi!
