I have recently written here and here about the need for less government.  A classic example is the Dept of Education.  This dept has a $50 billion budget.  This spending is on top of state/local spending on education.  Why do we need a Dept of Education?  Is it because states/localities lack leaders?  Nope, there are plenty of fat cat Superintendents to go around.  It is just a scheme to employ more bureaucracy and redistribute Federal tax dollars.  Why do we pay property taxes if the Feds are funding education?  The Feds don't.  The Feds fund what they deem important...i.e....the fallacy of the "well rounded" education.  Diversity, Global Warming, etc...  What ever happened to reading, writing, and arithmetic?  I digress...  Time warp to the pit of Liberal despair...  Michigan.  A state controlled and ruined by Democrats.  By Gov Jennifer Granholm (D-MI).  Now this incompetent wants to Feds to fix her state.  Earth to the MI dunce Gov...  ND has a 4.4% unemployment rate.  How did they manage that?  The Constitution grants Congress the power to legislate for the common good.  Bailing out MI via a "jobs" bill is not the common good.  Just wait until we find out what earmarks are in the bill.  Lower taxes!  Lower taxes across the board.  I had mentioned before, but if the capital gains rate was set at 0-5% last year, you would have seen HUGE investment.  Payroll taxes reduced?  Same thing...  I say let MI rot.  People will leave the state and strengthen those that aren't run by left-wing kooks.
