The 2010 Census Promises Everyone Their "Fair Share" Of Collectivism
Have any of you seen on TV or heard via radio these 2010 Census ads? The ad always ends with the same tag line, "...your fair share..." Fill out the 2010 Census to ensure you get your "fair share" of aid? One example given is the decision to build a hospital based on Census data. What is wrong with the tag line, "...fair share...?" Well, let us trace this bureaucratic nightmare... What is being discussed here is Federal dollars. Where do Federal dollars come from? Federal taxes on EVERYONE! Well, we know that around 25% or more of taxpayers, pay no net Federal taxes, but we'll ignore that nugget of truth. So all Americans pay Federal tax dollars in all 50 states. Not everyone pays the same amount, and not all states have an equal share of the 50 state total. If we were to ensure EVERYONE received their "fair share" of Federal government milk, couldn't the IRS just access tax returns and see where the month comes from? Wouldn't that be fair? Better yet, how about just lowering all Federal tax brackets by 2%. Wouldn't that be fair? Of course not... What is really being discussed here is the constant state of redistribution from the Federal government to the states. Is that fair? Heck no! Ever heard of earmarks? How often do we hear of one Congressman's district receiving $100's of millions? How is that fair? That form of redistribution is based upon political power/affiliation. Not Federal tax dollar source. Let us go back to the hospital example. The 2010 Census will decide where to build hospitals based upon population? Do you think FedEx builds distribution centers based upon population? Nope! It is based upon DEMAND. Hospitals know if they are being stretched too thin. If so, build another hospital. If not, why build another? The caveat in all of this is race. The 2010 Census also attempts to determine the "diversity" of American. Why does it matter how many red, green, yellow, blue, et al, people live in the USA? It doesn't, unless you are a politician. Then demographics matter a TON. Gotta make sure to identify those groups of people that make up voting blocks. And herein lies the truth. Although population is really the only thing that matters for redistricting Congressional seats, groups also matter to achieve political Collectivist goals. We are all individual Americans. Not groups to be catered too. We all already have our "fair share" of FREEDOM. What we need is our "fair share" of limited government...
