I came across this article with quite possible the worse argument for birthright citizenship EVER.  That argument?  "It strikes at the core of American identity, punishes all Americans by requiring them to prove their citizenship..."  That is enough of the idiotic comment.  You get the point.  The American identity is LEGAL immigration via Ellis Island.  Not ILLEGAL immigration via a porous border the Federal Government is too incompetent or unwilling to protect.  How the heck does requiring proof of citizenship punish me?  It doesn't.  Requiring proof of citizenship adds VALUE to citizenship.  Being an American citizen isn't as simple as coming here illegally, popping out some anchor babies, and getting a job.  You must SPEAK ENGLISH.  Learn our CUSTOMS and CULTURE.  American citizenship is VERY valuable.  Why do you think people flock here?  Duh!  The dunce in this article bestows ZERO value on citizenship and seemingly infinite value on just being an immigrant.  I got news for you buddy...  There wasn't welfare "back in the day."  Now we have it.  Why do you think Canada dumped birthright citizenship years ago?  The Chinese would visit ion the 35th week of prego.  Sure, perhaps some of our illegal immigrants aren't here to have anchor babies.  That doesn't mean these kids should be allowed to stay if the parents are deported.  I believe you are only TRULY an American citizen if at least one of your parents is an American.  Otherwise, you are duel citizenship at best and subject to deportation until age 18.  On top of this...  Wasn't birthright citizenship originally meant for the children of slaves?  How the hell did it become some sort of excuse to break the law?  Funny how Liberal kooks will do anything to bend the constitution until it suits their needs. Now the author of this crap piece is holding onto the 14th Amendment for dear life.  By his argument, the 2nd Amendment should allow ANY arms be owned by Americans.  Automatic weapons, bazooka, etc...  Liberals have successfully weakened the 2nd Amendment, and hopefully, the GOP will weaken the 14th Amendment soon.  This is America.  We have the right to be picky about who we let in.  We have the right to set high standards.  Don't like it? Immigrant your ass to Canada, et al...  End of story.
